websites!
indienerdboi
howdy genderfuckers & allies!

I wanted to share with you a couple of websites that you may find helpful and/or interesting.

1) Transbucket! Some of you might remember transster.com--> it was an amazing database of SRS surgeries from all over the world. Unfortunately it went offline not too long ago, and there has been a serious black hole in it's absence. Luckily for us, a couple of awesome, tech-savvy transguys have taken up the torch and launched transbucket.dom...you can view photos and read about experiences from folks who have had SRS surgeries [it's mostly FTM top surgery at the moment, but will hopefully grow to include MTF and FTM bottom surgeries as well]. I encourage you to check it out.

2) Is a bit of shameless plugging for my own site: an xx boy in an xy world. I've documented my transition thus far, as well as compiled a lengthy [and ever-growing!] list of resources.

3) It's almost that time again! The Vancouver Queer Film Festival [August 13-23] is fast-approaching! You can view previews of some of the films featured at this year's fest on their website.

hope you all are surviving the heat!

cheers,
ethan.

Volunteering for Vancouver Pride!
pridevols2009
 Hey everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know that It's not too late to sign up to volunteer for Vancouver Pride 2009; we are still accepting volunteers for a few events, including the Pride Parade and Festival, August 2nd. I wanted to make sure the word gets out to everyone in the community, so that no one misses the chance to be a part of this.

Sign up sooner than later to get the shifts you want; last year we filled up fast and we anticipate the same to happen for this year. Just this week we implemented a new system where you sign up, get your very own login, and then from there you can sign up for the exact events, shifts, and positions you want... immediately! Absolutely no waiting to be scheduled. You can then view your shifts online any time, instead of waiting for an email.

You can either go to www.vancouverpride.ca and look for the volunteer page, or take this shortcut:

http://web.volunteer2.com/public/organization/listjobs.aspx?OrganizationGUID=c37d4207-7d2c-4b24-8d55-6c29226b561f&AppForm=1

Just click on "I would like to volunteer for this organization" and take it from there!

Remember, ANYONE can volunteer. You don't have to be GLBTQ, etc, etc. I get that question a lot  =)

Looking to start a meetup
_zada
If this isnt ok let me know or delete thanks  :)

I am currently looking to find or start a meet up of partners, allies, family of transgendered people/ questioning/ genderqueer/ two spirited . Or if you are trans yourself thats great too. Pretty much this this group will be pretty open to who comes.
I have found groups at centers to go to but I am looking to something that is casual and a place for people to come and meet friends talk anything play games whatever we feel like doing.

Now details:
Meet up from Vancouver, BC or surrounding areas if you can come
I would like to arrange something if people are interested maybe once or twice a month.
Meet coffee places go for lunch have a picnic anything anywhere

Mainly I just want this to be a safe place we can come meet new people and talk about things we all may be experiencing and have fun.
If this sounds like something you will be interested in let me know comment, private message me, and we can look into starting something up.

Xposted numerous places sorry if you get this more then once.

important election reform!
indienerdboi
hi guys,

i realize that this may be perceived as off-topic, but i guarantee that election reform affects us all, especially minorities like the queer community.

on may 12th, british columbia will be holding a general election, along with a referendum on electoral reform. last time around, 57.69% of BC residents voted in favour of the Single Transferable Vote election reform, falling less than 3% shy of the 60% benchmark. this means that over half of BC residents [aka, THE MAJORITY] wish to see a major change in the may politicians are elected in this province.

STV can seem complicated, and probably lost some support as a result. here's a great little explanation of how the proposed system would work, courtesy of the CBC:

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/bcvotes2009/stv.html

i strongly urge all of you to get out and vote on may 12th!
